ABOUT US

Grace Baptist Church is an independent Baptist Church that believes and preaches the Word of God. Because all that Jesus Christ has done for us, we want to serve Him out of a heart of love. He is worthy of our faith and service. We strive to help everyone that God puts across our path know Jesus Christ personally and live a life of devotion to Him. Our interactive Sunday School classes, outreach, worship services, and our other ministries are all opportunities to grow and honor Jesus Christ with the life He has given us.

What We Believe

The paragraphs following are a summary of some of the beliefs that Grace Baptist Church holds to. Simply put, we believe the Bible and teach it to be absolutely perfect and without error. All of our beliefs are rooted in God's precious and Holy Word.

The Word of God

We believe the Scriptures of the Old Testament and New Testament to be the verbally inspired Word of God. The Bible is the final authority for faith, Christian living, and church establishment. It is without error in the original writings and preserved without error in the King James Version of the Bible for us today. The King James Version is the only version of the Bible we accept and use for English speaking people.

Psalm 12:6-7, Proverbs 30:5, II Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21, Revelation 22:18-19

The Godhead

We believe in the one true God, eternally existing in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three persons of the one Godhead are co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, and co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections.

Genesis 1:26-27, Exodus 3:14, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, John 1:1-14, 8:58, 10:30, I John 5:7

God the Father

We believe God the Father is the one and only living God. He an infinite and intelligent Spirit.

Exodus 20:2,3, Matthew 6:9, 10:33, John 4:24, 8:19

The Lord Jesus Christ

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is God the Son and the Son of God. We believe in pre-incarnate deity, virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, ascension to Heaven, high-priesthood, imminent pre-tribulational and pre-millennial return, and coming again with His saints to establish and reign over His kingdom on earth.

Matthew 28:5, Luke 1:35 John 1:1, 3:16, Acts 1:3-10, II Corinthians 5:21, I Thess 1:10, 4:13-18, Hebrews 4:15,  Revelation 19-21

The Holy Spirit

We believe God the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person equal with the Father and the Son. He restrains the wicked one in this world, convicts the lost sinner, comforts the child of God, witnesses to the believer’s spirit, and sanctifies the believer. We do not accept the ecumenical or charismatic teachings of our day such as "speaking in tongues."

Matthew 28:19, John 14:16-17, 16:8-11, Acts 5:1-4,  Romans 8:16, 16:15, I Corinthians 13:8, II Thessalonians 2:6-13,

Satan

We believe in the existence of Satan who was once a sinless angel, but later fell through pride and rebellion. He is the enemy of all Christians.

Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:11-19

Creation

We believe in the Genesis account of the direct creation of the universe and man by God in six literal days. We do not believe in the theory of evolution.

Genesis 1, John 1

Man's Fall

We believe in the voluntary fall of man, resulting in total depravity and guilt of the race of Adam. The human race fell because of sin. God's judgment of eternal death is the just retribution for our sin. Each person needs salvation through Jesus Christ.

Genesis 2-3, John 3:16-18, 5:28-30, Romans 5:12, 6:23, Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 20:11-15

Heaven and Hell

We believe in the eternal bliss of heaven for all those who are saved through faith in Jesus Christ. We also believe in the eternal damnation of a literal hell for all those who die without being saved through faith in Jesus Christ.

Luke 16:19-31, John 5:28-30;14:1-3, II Corinthians 5:1-8; Hebrews 9:27-28; Revelation 20:11-21:6

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ and His payment for our sins on the cross. Salvation is described Scripturally as receiving eternal life, God’s forgiveness of our sins, a new birth as a child of God, and a home in heaven. Jesus Christ's blood atonement satisfied God for the judgment of our sin. Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world. He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

John 3:16, Romans 3:23-26, 5:9, Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9, Hebrews 10-12, I John 1:7

Eternal Security

We believe in the eternal security and assurance of the believer. That is, when a sinner is saved through faith in Jesus Christ, he is saved forever, kept by the power of God and secured in the righteousness of Jesus Christ forever.

John 6:37-40, 10:27-30, Ephesians 1:13,14, 4:30

The Local Church
We believe the church is a visible and local assembly of people, composed of those who have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, followed by Biblical baptism in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that all true believers make up the family of God, which is separate entity from a local church. A church is brought together by the Holy Spirit, as a body of Christ, to obey the Lord and advance the kingdom of God on earth. This is done through public worship that honors the Lord and His Word, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Christian education, personal evangelism, missionary endeavors, spiritual growth, and consistent living by its members.

Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, John 3:1-36, Acts 2:41-47, I Corinthians 3:13-17, 12:11-14, Ephesians 3:14-15

Baptism and the Lord's Supper

There are two ordinances of the church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The only mode of biblical baptism is by total immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The members of the church observe the Lord’s Supper in memory of our Lord’s death by partaking of unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine.

Luke 22:14-20, Acts 8:26-39, I Corinthians 11:23-32

The Return of Christ

We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ in the sky to take His bride, all believers, to heaven in resurrected bodies before to the Tribulation period. The rapture is followed by the rise of the Antichrist and seven years of tribulation on earth. At the end of Tribulation, the Lord Jesus Christ will return to the earth and reign on earth for 1000 years. Finally, Jesus will make a new heaven and new earth in which we will live for eternity.

John 5:28-29, II Corinthians 15:51-57, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, Revelation 4:22
